In the speed measurement of micro DC motor, there are many methods, such as centrifugal tachometer, flash tachometer, photoelectric digital tachometer, etc., but these speed measurement methods are difficult to compare. For example, photoelectric digital tachometer needs to mark the rotating part of the micro motor to measure the speed, while the flash tester needs to fix the micro DC motor in a special position. When the micro DC motor is running, the DC power supply will introduce the DC voltage into the commutator of the armature through the brush. When the commutator rotates, it will convert the external DC voltage and current into the potential and current inside the coil. At this time, a pulsating component will be generated in the power supply current circuit, as shown in the figure below.

When the number of commutators K is odd, C = 2. When the number of commutator plates K is even, C = 1.


Because the number of commutators in the same type of DC motor is fixed, the change of armature current pulsation frequency directly reflects the change of motor speed.
